After the TechED conference last week we’ve been waiting for the technical preview to leak, and it has. This is a fresh leak and is currently on on torrents. I was just browsing through my twitter searches and I’ve come to see this, from zenhabits.net. This is something that I’d also like to say and to be honest I dont think I could have said it better. He makes e-books and is rather popular(giving he has over 100,000 subscribers to his rss). He is basically openly saying that you can steal my content but please before you do, take the time to read why you shouldn’t.
Many people dont know that if you just copy and paste content, your Google pagerank will go down. Google does penalize people that do it, its never good. For example if you copy this paragraph we’d “loose” points with Google. Obviously all the website developers know this, hence the huge market for employing bloggers and original writers.
So he writes an e-book and then gives it away for free if your going to mess with it. erm… what? Yeah, there’s loads of reasons probably why he’s done it. Although I don’t think its because of the hundreds of e-mails a week asking for permission. Its because
- he doesn’t agree with copyright laws
- limiting distribution isn’t good if your trying to keep the profits
- stealing isnt hurting anyone, after all if its good they’re going to know its yours.
- all work can be aproved upon, so if you can do that, why not!
I think they’re great reasons and coming from him, I think that’s even better! Well done on him for just standing up and literally saying, “have my work but if you like it, feel free to pay”

I have only just sted using bluetooth very recently(with my pc) because alike most people, cables annoy me. A Great friend of ours over at M1 has created a quick to find bluetooth gadget, for the windows vista sidebar.
