I made this a while ago and someone has asked for it, Its the Starbucks logo but its got a great theme of blue to it. In my opinion it somewhat looks better than the green version. So please tell me what you think. This is your little piece of “freefridayrubbish”….

So this week, as promised everyday around 4PM(UTC) We’ve posted a new cheatsheet for a particular subject. They’ve already helped so many people and I hope, as a website developer, they can help you too.

The cheatsheets themselves just contain the tags for code, no explanation apart from sone that do contain a small caption next to them. A very good skill to have during developing online is to look at code and be able to reaad what it does without breaking it down. For example…

<?php wp_login(); ?>

Means This is the Wordpress Login Text

Many langauges make sure you can do this by just looking at the tag themselves. Here whats we’ve covered this week on pureelite

  1. HTML + XHTML Cheat Cheets
  2. CSS Cheatsheet
  3. MySQL Cheatsheet
  4. AJAX Cheatsheets
  5. PHP Cheatsheet
  6. Ruby on Rails Cheatsheet
  7. Wordpress Cheatsheet

So if you’ve enjoyed reading them, please comment and tell other people about them!

So a few hours ago, our friends over at istartedsomething posted about the windows seven box art. Long said that this was fake and it shouldnt be believed. Well we all have our moments where a source can feed the wrong information. Well this is one of those times, the box art is believed to be real and genuine.

The images below are from http://www.centrumxp.pl believed to be the leaker of the images.

Anyone else notice the really bad job on lense flare? Oops Microsoft!

What do you think?

There has been no official announcement from Apple about a netbook, but some people have come up with pretty good ideas already. Student Kyle Buckner has made a full netbook out of wood, and even though it hasn’t launched yet, I’m already in love with it:

Beautiful, isn’t it? Even the dock icons and the wallpaper…

I think all of us have seen the odd Photoshop mock-up over the years, faked videos and God knows what else claiming to be something else, but rarely do you see a good concept GUI made my someone from the ‘general public’, but there’s a first time for everything.

So a friend of mine, Cullen Dudas decided to show the world his ideas with a flash mock-up of his UX idea; Copenhagen. Some people say it’s not the most useable thing ever, I tend to disagree. To me it looks like a great UI, one I could certainly see myself using in  day to day environment and, one I think I would enjoy using… which isn’t the usual case with UI’s.

Take a look;

Here’s what Cullen has to say about it;

"Copenhagen is a User Experience concept that I designed. It is unique in the fact that it manages to bring together classic design, contemporary design, usability, and art.
Copenhagen shatters the composite prototypical event patterns people have developed for their OS, Windows.

It is a collision of months of research, high visibility, proper affordance, accurate conceptual models, visceral experience, behavioural experience, and reflective experience, all coming together to create an amazing user experience.

Contact me at CullenD@Live.com for inquiries.

Great for an enthusiast to go to such lengths to show his idea, so… what do you think of “Copenhagen”?

When Mozilla released Firefox 3, it claimed it’d have a “native look”, or using slightly harsher language, wouldn’t look like crap on Vista. The thing is it still did, because there was no aero support. The unofficial solution? Install Glasser. But why bother if you can hide the ugliness with by skinning your toolbar with an XP-like background? That’s the official solution.

By simply going to getpersonas.com and installing a simple add-on, you can enjoy the nice old “IE6 with adware” experience on your Vista machine (and on a much better browser, let’s be fair). Backgrounds are downloaded instantly over the web, and they are accessible through a simple menu, so you can (almost, well no, but keep reading) instantly get a picture of a zombie as your background). It’s also interesting how long backgrounds take to download on slower connections, which make me want to give up right away (but as I’m nice, I played with everything then disabled the add-on after the review, lol).

So if you’re looking for a way to get your 8-year-old to use Firefox more often, you can give it a try. If you’re not an 8-year-old, you’re free to do it as well, but we’re not responsible for any consequences this might have. Currently I’m leaving this installed, but disabled. And if you really want to make Firefox look cool, you better get Glasser. You won’t regret it.

Every Website designer knows at any large change to a website that isn’t justified can be a killer. Facebook literally doesn’t care, they didn’t before and they don’t now. They recently have just changed the homepage to compete with twitter.

facebook

As we’ve reported before, twitter has had an 1000%+ increase in the past year, that’s no competition to Facebook. Lets be honest for a few minutes. I am young and all my friends are on Facebook, only my close friends know about twitter. Twitter hasn’t set out to compete with Facebook and overall their not even similar. Why would Facebook even bother competing with twitter, their both social sites in the end and they both are very different.

Although many people are trying to predict what will come of twitter, I don’t think it will be anything like Facebook. With the changes to the homepage, an App has been created and it simply is a poll with comments. Users comment with their thoughts on the new design. So far, with over 1 Million Votes and 624,665 Comments it can only get worse. Although people like Leo from TWIT yesterday know nothing will be done. The whole new design as you can see puts the spotlight towards status updates, which is where the involvement wih twitter has come in. face book had this to say :

“The new Facebook home page is one step in the continued evolution of the site, designed to give people more ways to share and filter all types of content, such as status updates, photos, videos, notes and more. We are grateful to have 175 million people worldwide using Facebook to connect with the people and things they care about most, and we take their feedback very seriously.”

They released a beta in january, this was build 7000. This is build  7048, the RC version. You can find out the new features that have been implemented here.

Ok, well my girlfriend takes the piss out of me for watching this but i dont care. Gossip Girl… Its a TV program thats aired mostly in america although it has now progressed to ITV in the uk. Well tbh i ike watching it and whle im working it can be intresting.

Although the whole program works around a blogger in new york that with the help of her fans is submitted data from phones where the upper east side teens are. Its  a stupid thing to do because they’re not that special but its a nice type of program. The site in question is… http://gossipgirl-blog.cwtv.com/.

I see many things online and some are crap and some are a complete treat. Then again I do come across some very weird things, like that i have for you here. Using elements in the PSD provided you can create your own “DevART Dude”. You’ve got all the elements of a normal face so all you have to do, is put them in the places you want. Simple, Fun and a little strange.

have fun…
